Smoke-Free & Scent-Free Campus
Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on university property, including residences, apartments, outdoor spaces and parking lots. Please also be mindful with scented products, as fragrances can trigger allergies, asthma and migraines for neighbours.
Submitting a Maintenance Request?
Please email western.apartments@uwo.ca with:
- Your unit number in the subject line
- The issue’s location and as much detail as possible
- Photos if possible
- Times you are available for staff to enter your unit

Campus Sidewalk Closures
With construction continuing across campus and on city roads, some sidewalks are closed or rerouted. Check Western’s Campus Road & Sidewalk Closures map before you head out. It’s updated regularly.
Remove AC Units by Thanksgiving
All air conditioning (AC) units must be removed by Monday, October 12, Canadian Thanksgiving. This helps prevent cold air infiltration and building damage as we head into heating season. Questions? Contact the Rental Office or visit our Heating and Cooling webpage.
Garbage Chute Etiquette – Bayfield Hall
Tie all garbage bags securely before disposal. No oversized items, boxes or bulk materials down the chute, as these cause blockages. Do not leave items around the chute. Items that do not fit safely should be taken to the appropriate waste disposal area.

Large Item Disposal
Please do not leave furniture or other belongings beside EnviroBins as they block collection trucks. For large or specialty items, check the City of London’s EnviroDepots webpage for disposal options.
Sort Your Recycling Correctly
London uses a two-stream recycling system:
- Paper: Paper, cardboard, boxboard, newspapers
- Containers: Plastic, metal and glass bottles, cans and jars

Stinging Insects: Prevention & Reporting
Wasps and bees get more active in the fall. Cover outdoor food and drinks, clean up spills and crumbs, and keep garbage securely contained. Spot a nest? Email western.apartments@uwo.ca with your unit address, a description and photos (if safe to take). Do not approach or disturb a nest. For urgent after-hours pest concerns, contact the Ontario Hall Front Desk at 519-661-2088.

Donate what you no longer need and take home what you need, for free! Bring your Western ONECard when you visit. Open Wednesdays in September, from 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., Arts & Humanities Building, Room 1B09. Check their website for what’s accepted.
